Davis must win here to earn an invitation to the Masters next week

Davis shot a 65 in his second round burberry ties Friday and shares the lead at 11 under par with Louis Oosthuizen at the rain-delayed Houston Open.

The second round was suspended due to darkness at 7:36 p.m. CT with 70 players still on the course.

Houston resident Jeff Maggert was at 10 under, but he had eight holes left to play in his second round. Defending champion Phil Mickelson (70), J.B. Holmes (67), Tommy Gainey (67), and Greg Owen (69) finished their second rounds and were two shots behind the leaders at 9 under.

Three-time major champion Ernie Els, who must win to qualify for next week's Masters, was in the group at 5 under after a second-round 69.

A thunderstorm dumped burberry outlet 1 1 / 4inches of rain Thursday, causing the backup. The players enjoyed sunny and calm conditions Friday, but the fairways were damp, and players were permitted to lift, clean and place.

Davis played a total of 32 holes on Friday, finishing a first-round 68 and then making seven birdies on his way to his best score of the year.

The 37-year-old Englishman took a hard look at his life late last year after his father, Robert, died of cancer. He changed caddies, hired a sports psychologist and retooled his swing.

"Probably the highlight of the offseason and to this season was taking a look at everything I did on and off the golf course," Davis said. "I think I'm more prepared going forward now this year."

Davis, a father of three, also worked burberry shoes for men with sports psychologist Bob Winters on managing his time more precisely.

"I really struggle when my kids say, 'Can we do this?' and I should be practicing," Davis said. "It's hard to juggle that around. You've got to give yourself some time as well. Obviously, we looked over that at the end of the last year and changed my practice routines, changed a lot of things."

Davis felt recharged at the start of the season, but missed the cut in three of his first four starts. He finally saw signs of improvement when he tied for 47th at the Honda Classic, then tied for 63rd in Puerto Rico the following week.

"It's one of them Ray ban sunglasses things, you've got to stay the course and keep at it," Davis said.

Oosthuizen, the 2010 British Open champion, is also making changes, though far less dramatic. He's tinkering with his swing and gone back to the driver he used when he won at St. Andrews.

The 29-year-old South African hit 11 of 14 fairways off the tee in his second round on his way to a 66.

"I hit it well at the Open in 2010, and I Oakley sunglasses feel like I'm very close to hitting it like I did there," Oosthuizen said. "Swing-wise, I feel confident."

Mickelson finished a 65 on Friday morning and started his second round on No. 10 about an hour later. His afternoon round stalled after he birdied 13 and 15, the two par 5s on the back nine. He hit his tee shot over the green on the par-3 16th and bogeyed, then parred the next five holes.

"I played pretty well the second round, but I didn't get the score that I had hoped," Mickelson said. "I've got to light it up this weekend."

Mickelson played with Fred Couples, who won on the Champions Tour last week. Couples, who played at the discounted burberry watches for men University of Houston and has made 18 consecutive cuts at the event, is 4 under through two rounds.

Couples moved within two shots of the lead, but dropped back when he dunked his tee shot in the water on the 488-yard, par-4 18th hole and took a double bogey. The 52-year-old Couples shot a 73 in the afternoon.

The Houston Open became the run-up event to the Masters in 2007. Despite the delay, tournament director Steve Timms is hoping to finish the tournament by 5 p.m. Sunday to accommodate not only television, but also the players heading to Augusta.

Like Els, Davis must win here to earn an invitation to the Masters next week. Davis has five runner-up finishes in seven years on the tour, but he's never won.Chanel sunglasses - cheap chanel designer sunglasses sale 2012.

"Obviously, I'm well aware that I need to start winning," Davis said. "It's one of those things where you can't force it. You've just got to keep putting yourself in position."

Mickelson says he's prefers playing a tournament the week before a major to get into a "competitive frame of mind." Last year, he Cheapest louis vuitton men shoes 2012 hot black outlet shot 63-65 over the weekend to win by three strokes over Chris Kirk and Scott Verplank.

The game was the first for Lightning captain Vincent Lecavalier

Ilya Kovalchuk and Marek Zidlicky scored in Ray ban sunglasses a 1:11 span to cap a four-goal second period and the Devils put themselves on the doorstep of a playoff berth with a 6-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Thursday night.

The Devils had a chance to clinch their 14th trip to the playoffs in 15 seasons, but Washington delayed the celebration by winning a shootout over Boston minutes after New Jersey's game ended. Many of the Devils watched the shootout before talking to the media.

"'It would have been nice to clinch, but I think we are in a good spot,'' Devils first-year coach Peter DeBoer said.

The Devils have four regular-season games to earn a clinching point. They can back in if Washington losses a point in its last four games.

"We have to keep Oakley sunglasses winning,'' Devils forward Zach Parise said. "You don't want to rely on any other team to have to lose to make it in, so we'll just worry about ourselves and make sure we keep going in the right direction.''

New Jersey missed the playoffs last season for the first time since 1996, a run of 13 straight years. There was no NHL season in 2004.

"We just have to worry about ourselves, that's it,'' said Devils veteran Patrik Elias, who didn't watch the Caps-Bruins shootout.

Dainius Zubrus, Jacob Josefson, Alexei Ponikarovsky and David Clarkson also scored as New Jersey matched its season high for goals in posting its second straight victory and overcoming a hat trick by Ryan Malone of Tampa Bay.

''We weren't very smart with the puck and got burberry handbags caught out there,'' Malone said. ''They did a good job of wearing us down and beating us to the net and winning their battles.''

Devils goaltender Martin Brodeur had a relatively easy night, making 16 saves.

Dwayne Roloson gave up all six Devils goals on 34 shots before being replaced early in the third period by Sebastien Caron.

The four-goal second period gave New Jersey a 4-3 lead entering the third period. Ponikarovsky stretched burberry watches the margin to two goals deflecting a shot by defenseman Bryce Salvador at 2:25 and Clarkson extended his career-high goals total to 29, scoring off Ponikarovsky's rebound.

"Today we killed ourselves in the second period with turnovers,'' Lightning coach Guy Boucher said. "We weren't good in the third. They kept on with their momentum. We deserved it. That's what we deserved. We killed ourselves in the second period. At 3-2, if we just keep playing, we have a chance. But we just opened burberry ties up the flood gates with our fancy stuff and it cost us.''

There were six goals in a wild second period in which the Devils fought back to tie it after each of Malone's goals before eventually taking the lead on a power-play tally by Zidlicky with 5:23 left in the period.

"It's nice when you have a game like that,'' Clarkson said. "The puck is going in. Obviously we have to clean up spots defensively, but you'll take a game like that sometimes.''

Kovalchuk had tied it at 3-all with his burberry underwear for men 33rd goal just 1:11 earlier, taking a pass from Adam Henrique and scoring his 33rd goal.

Malone was the story for the Lightning with the aid of a couple of lucky bounces. He got his 16th of the season late in the first period, putting a puck that deflected off Steven Stamkos' rear end into an open net.

Zubrus tied it after a Lightning giveaway set up a 2-on-1 short-handed chance that resulted in his 17th goal.

"That goal got us going, obviously,'' Elias said.

Malone restored the Lightning lead less than two minutes later with a shot that deflected past Brodeur off Zidlicky's skate. A giveaway by Tampa Bay defenseman Eric Brewer allowed Josefson to tie it at 2-all at 6:54.Versace sunglasses, cheap versace eyeglasses 2012, 50% sale.

Malone completed his hat trick at 10:13, putting the rebound of a point shot by Victor Hedman into the net.

"Through this suspension, Ray ban sunglasses we intend to make sure that we have the procedures and protocols in place so that prescribed fire conditions and management requirements are understood and strictly followed," Hickenlooper said in a statement.

Although the origins of the so-called Lower North Fork Fire are officially under investigation, the Colorado State Forest Service has said that a controlled burn it conducted was the likely source of the fire.

Deputy Colorado State Forester Joseph Duda called the tragedy heartbreaking given the loss of life and property.

"One of the primary roles of the Colorado State Forest Service is to help keep forests healthy and reduce the threat of catastrophic wildfires through fuel reduction," he said.

Duda said state forestry crews were conducting a controlled burn to thin out potential fuels on land owned by the Denver Water Board last week, and workers were surveying its perimeter on Monday when the fire erupted.

"The crew reported a sudden, significant increase in wind and then reported seeing blowing embers carried across the containment line, over a road, and into unburned fuels," he said. "The crew immediately requested additional resources and began aggressively fighting the fire."

The fire quickly spread, destroying 27 homes and forcing the evacuation of some 900 residences with another 6,500 on standby to evacuate Oakley sunglasses should shifting winds drive the flames in their direction.

The bodies of an elderly couple who perished in the fire were later discovered by crews near their home, and a woman who resided in the area remains unaccounted for.

Hickenlooper said he would appoint a panel to "conduct a thorough and comprehensive review" of controlled burns.

Although the order burberry handbags applies just to burns on state land, the governor urged land managers of local and federal lands within the state to likewise review their prescribed burn procedures.

Fire officials on Wednesday reported significant progress in fighting the stubborn blaze which is burning through tinder-dry ponderosa pine trees and dried grasses in rugged terrain in the foothills 20 miles west of Denver.

"We have had a good day today and have established a perimeter," Jacki Kelley, spokeswoman for the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, said at an afternoon briefing.

Kelley said calmer winds that grounded aerial support earlier in the week had subsided, allowing tankers and helicopters to drop fire retardant and water ahead of the flames throughout the day.

The blaze, which has blackened 4,140 acres, is now 15 percent contained, she said, adding that officials scaled down the size of the fire and the number of destroyed structures after detailed mapping provided more accurate data.

Meanwhile, an urban search and rescue team consisting of 32 people and six canines were searching for the missing woman, Kelley said. Crews were also digging through the rubble of the woman's burned-out house to see if her remains were there.

A Vermont snowplow driver who wanted to “get a girl” was accused Wednesday along with his wife of luring a popular prep school teacher from her home by pretending their vehicle had broken down, beating and strangling her, stripping her body naked and throwing it into the Connecticut River.

Allen Prue, 30, and Patricia Prue, 33, of Waterford, pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder in the death of Melissa Jenkins, whose SUV was found idling along a remote road near her St. Johnsbury home on Sunday with her unharmed 2-year-old inside.

Police said Allen Prue was riding around on Sunday with his wife when he got the idea “to get a girl,” the affidavit said. “They didn’t plan to get one forcefully,” the police affidavit said.

Police gave no further details on a possible motive burberry watches in the death of the 33-year-old teacher at the prestigious St. Johnsbury Academy. The Prues were ordered held without bail, and police said more charges were possible.

“They knew Miss Jenkins and had snowplowed her driveway a couple of years ago,” Vermont State Police Maj. Ed Ledo said at a news conference announcing the arrests.

A friend told police that Allen Prue had asked Jenkins out a couple of times and that she felt uncomfortable around him, according to the documents. She stopped having him plow, and in autumn 2011 he showed up drunk at her home asking if he could plow her driveway the following year.

After the court appearance, Allen Prue’s mother, Donna Prue, said that her son has never been in trouble with the law before and that she has faith he didn’t commit the crime.

“I do not believe he would burberry ties ever do this, because he didn’t have it in him. I have nothing against her (Patricia); I don’t have nothing bad to say about either one,” said Donna Prue, who lives with the couple and her daughter. She said she did not know Jenkins.

Patricia Prue’s first husband, Jeffry Witkoff, 38, of Littleton, Colo., said the news was shocking.

“If somebody told me she’s a murderer, that’s nothing that would pop into her head. When I knew her she did a have history of mental issues, for anxiety and depression and social anxiety,” he said. They were legally separated in 2007 and divorced in 2009, he said.

Police were called Sunday night after Jenkins’ son was found alone in her vehicle.

Her former boyfriend told police she called him saying that she had gotten a weird call from a couple who used to plow her driveway and that she was going to help them. She wanted someone to know what she was doing, the documents say.

When he couldn’t reach her two hours later, burberry underwear for men he went to check on her. He told police he found her vehicle, with her son sleeping in it, and one of her shoes nearby.

Allen Prue later told police that Patricia Prue called Jenkins and told her they had broken down near her home.

The death of the well-loved science teacher at St. Johnsbury Academy, once attended by President Calvin Coolidge, reverberated through the town of 6,200 in northeastern Vermont about 40 miles south of the Canadian border.

Ledo said he hoped the arrests would bring closure for Jenkins’ family and friends.

“We can now turn our full attention to healing from this tragic loss, celebrating Melissa’s life and mourning her death,” said Joe Healy, a spokesman for St. Johnsbury Academy.Chanel sunglasses - cheap chanel designer sunglasses sale 2012.

The court documents describe the encounter this way:

When the 33-year-old Jenkins got out of her vehicle, Allen Prue grabbed her and strangled her. He said his wife was outside helping him but didn’t know what she was doing. He then put the body in the backseat of their car, and they drove to their home. At some point, Patricia Prue choked Jenkins in the car “to ensure she wasn’t breathing.”

Back at their home, he put Jenkins’ body on a tarp, removed her clothes and poured bleach on her body. The Prues also removed their clothes and put them on the tarp.

They then drove to a boat access at the Connecticut River, which separates Vermont from New Hampshire, and put Jenkins’ body in the water, weighing it down with cinder blocks and concealing it with brush.

They threw a prepaid cellphone that Patricia had used to call Jenkins into the water near Moore Dam and took the tarp and the cheap louis vuitton shoes for women clothes to New Hampshire where they burned them.

Jenkins’ body was found in shallow water of the river with her feet tied and severe bruising indicating a severe beating before her death, the affidavit said.

Why Romney would need one is unclear

But it may not help Romney -- burberry ties whose wealth has caused him trouble connecting with average folks -- to be seen building a split-level, four-vehicle garage that comes with a "car lift" to transport automobiles between floors, according to 2008 schematic plans for the renovation obtained by POLITICO that are on file with the city of San Diego.

Hold on, a what? A car elevator?

Yes, Virginia, there are car elevators. While they're typically part of enormous garages built to hold hundreds of cars in the smallest burberry outlet amount of space, some are built for private houses -- and not just the batcave under Wayne Manor. The Atlantic Wire's Ray Gustini has a great rundown on some of these larger and more opulent elevators.

As for the kind of car elevator a person might install in a house, there's some variation. Some of them allow you to pull a car up from a garage into the heart of the house, which could be useful for showing off a prized collector vehicle to company, or maybe just getting to the table faster if you're running late for dinner. This YouTube video, complete with an orange Aston Martin, burberry shoes for men demonstrates how one might work:

If Romney were to become president, he wouldn't be the first commander in chief with one. A much more utilitarian lift was reportedly outfitted to carry Franklin Roosevelt's limousine from Grand Central Station to the Waldorf-Astoria -- Ray ban sunglasses although a historian says he can't find any evidence FDR actually used it.

Why Romney would need one is unclear, but it's likely to be more utilitarian than ostentatious. Although Politico acquired draft plans for the renovation of the home, the Secret Oakley sunglasses Service and the Romney campaign both requested that they not be printed for security reasons. To hazard a guess, the Romney car elevator may actually be a stab at modesty. Here's the theory: Romney lives on the beach, where land is both pricey and hard to come by. The plans indicate that the renovation will include a massive excavation of the ground underneath the existing house. So perhaps the elevator system is intended to store several vehicles -- a couple of Cadillacs, for example -- cheap burberry jackets for kids underground. That would mesh well with the Romney campaign's defense to The New York Times that, in the Times's words, it's "simply a mechanism for storing cars in tight spaces." It's not as sexy as a secret entrance, but it would make sense.Marc Jacobs sunglasses, cheap marc jacobs eyeglasses 2012, 50% sale.

Practicality aside, the revelation has been the cause of much mirth, playing as it does into perceptions about Romney's wealth and the distance between his experience and that of the average American. Here's a selection of the funniest reactions.

The last thing Microsoft wants is for the prevalence

Botnets are sprawling networks of burberry handbags infected Windows PCs manipulated by criminal gangs to steal from online banking accounts.

Working with U.S. Marshals and two financial services industry trade groups, the software giant on Friday orchestrated a surprise raid on two Internet hosting companies: Continuum Data Centers in Lombard, Ill., and BurstNet in Scranton, Pa.

Seized were two command-and-control servers used to send instructions to millions of infected PCs that are part of the massive Zeus botnet.

The raid came after Microsoft filed a civil lawsuit, partly under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. The company has combined legal tactics with cyberforensics three other times since 2010 to shut down burberry shirts for women cheap command-and-control servers used to direct large botnets.

"Microsoft has done the online world a great service by establishing a repeatable process and a legal framework for taking down botnets and bringing malware distributors to justice," says Stephen Cobb, security evangelist at anti-virus firm ESET.

Graham Cluley, researcher at tech security firm Sophos, says Microsoft has a profound self-interest in cleaning up the Internet.

"The last thing Microsoft wants is for the prevalence of malware to be a reason for people to purchase their next computer from Apple," he says.Ray ban sunglasses, cheap gucci sunglasses, burberry sunglasses sale.

Microsoft's burberry ties lawsuit identifies 39 John Does, who use 65 different online aliases, and accuses them of controlling as many as 13 million infected PCs, using them to steal more than $100 million from online banking accounts.

"We expect this effort will significantly impact the cybercriminal underground for quite some time, but cybercrime, like all crime, will always be a societal challenge," says Richard Boscovich, senior attorney in charge of Microsoft's digital crimes unit.

Botnet gangs have hit small organizations that rely on Automated Clearing House (ACH) cash transfers — a service banks have integrated burberry watches 2012 into their online banking accounts — especially hard.

Companies use ACH transfers to deposit salaries, pay suppliers and receive payments. Cybercriminals have perfected intricate systems to pull off fraudulent transfers.

The seized servers could help authorities pinpoint the identities of gang members named in the lawsuit, says Michael Sutton, research vice president at network security firm Zscaler.

"Microsoft should be applauded Cheap burberry bags white beige 2012 new style sale for expending considerable human and financial resources to at least put a dent in what has become one of the more prolific botnets out there."

She also found a CNN report saying it was suspended in 2009

With the third-generation iPad launch burberry handbags now a week old -- unless you're in today's second wave of launch countries, that is -- the rumor mill has turned its attention back to the iPhone.

The latest comes from iMore, which today posts some chewy, though anonymously-sourced hardware details about Apple's next smartphone. Those include a move to a 4G LTE radio like the one the third-generation iPad ships with, a display that's "similar if not same sized" to Apple's long-time 3.5-inch spec, and the move to a smaller dock port for charging and data transfers.

The blog, which correctly targeted the announcement date of Apple's third-generation iPad unveiling, as well as the tablet's inclusion of 4G LTE networking, added that the new phone would follow in the iPhone 4S' footsteps and launch in the fall.

Besides 4G LTE, burberry shirts for women cheap which was rumored ahead of the iPhone 4S, this is the latest such mention of Apple working on a miniaturized dock connector to help make extra room in its portable devices. A report from Japanese Apple-centric blog Macotakara in October claimed as much, with iMore adding to those claims last month, saying the smaller ports were headed to the iPhone and iPad so that Apple could make more room in those devices for other components.

The 30-pin adapter, which Apple uses on iPods, iPhones, and iPads, was originally designed to help make iPods thinner; Apple began with full-sized Firewire ports, later switching to USB exclusively. It's since become the standard for third-party docks and accessories.

Ahead of the iPhone 4S unveiling last October, the slew of rumors about the device took on a life of their own, due in no small part to the extended wait between models and the growing importance of the iPhone to Apple's business. Some of the big ones included mention of a complete redesign, the likes of what Apple did between the iPhone 3G/3GS and the iPhone 4, as well as the chance of multiple new models, and tweaks to longtime features like the screen size and home button.

There are so many legs to this story, following it is like watching a centipede on a hot tin roof trying to dance.Ray ban sunglasses, cheap gucci sunglasses, burberry sunglasses sale.

First off, as Heddi Cundle, CEO of myTab Inc., a San Francisco-based startup put it, “the idea of requiring people to turn over the username and password is pretty much like they require you to turn over your housekey so that an employer can make sure you have nothing illegal going on inside the privacy of your own home.

Enough is enough.

While discussing the issue on Facebook, Joel Postman, a social pr consultant and author observed, “We already give employers our social security number, our driver’s license or passport number, our address, and phone. If we sign up for direct deposit they get our checking account number and ABA routing number. Companies are tracking every keystroke and every IP address you visit while at work.” Some burberry ties employees even have to submit bodily fluids for drug testing.

If this sort of practice pushes forward, it will become a most volatile ignition point. There has to be a limit to unreasonable search and seizure and this one would be a wonderful candidate because almost no elected official would be boneheaded enough to support the employer in this case.

But there is real question as to how widespread such practice really are. The number of cases reported so far appear to have two aspects in common: 1. They involve government positions mostly public safety jobs. 2. They are old, the most recent seems to have happened in 2010.

I often use Twitter and Facebook to crowd source my writing. I asserted some effort for several hours today to see if I could find more storyies then the minuscule and aging anecdotes that were reported by Fox and NPR.

Only one new came up, reported by burberry mens 2012 sun glasses Gina Kay Landis, who told me she had pored through 53 Google Search pages and found only one new case. It involved the City of Bozeman, Montana who required Facebook and, of all sites, MySpace, indicating the practice had started in earlier times. She also found a CNN report saying it was suspended in 2009.

Of all the online issues I think you should worry about, my advice is to lose no sleep on this one. If such a practice is being tried, it is not widespread and it is unlikely that it will become widespread based on available information. Plus any company that tried to do this to you is a place where you should avoid working.

Of all the urgent thing that US Senators gucci sunglasses could bring to the attention of the Justice Department on a Sunday afternoon, this seems to me to have been a very lame selection.

The Verizon findings were released on the same day

Parts of the internet were burberry ties understandably confused this week when a Research In Motion job post revealed that the company was looking for an iOS developer. But you can put those dreams of a cross-platform BBM client to rest—it's the enterprise market that RIM has in mind.

As first reported by John Paczkowski at All Things D, the Canadian mobile giant is looking for “an experienced iOS/Objective-C developer capable of architecting, designing, developing and testing complex applications for iPhone and iPad devices.” While some speculated that RIM was perhaps finally planning to port is proprietary BlackBerry software to other platforms, the reality is actually quite tame.

The Waterloo-based company clarified that the listing is related to RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry Mobile Fusion platform, which will allow IT administrators burberry handbags outlet to manage not just BlackBerry and PlayBook devices, but those running Android and iOS operating systems as well.

Perhaps the writing was on the wall all along—the listing itself explicitly mentioned that candidates would be expected to create “exciting enterprise applications for distribution on the iOS platform.”

Activists with hacker skills were behind more than half the data stolen in cyber attacks last year, according to findings released on Thursday by the largest US telecommunications carrier.

While criminal groups accounted for an overwhelmingly majority of cyber strikes on networks, "hacktivists" were the ones who rampantly looted data once inside computers, Verizon Communications burberry sneakers women said in an annual Data Breach Investigations Report.

"This re-imagined and re-invigorated specter of 'hacktivism' rose to taunt organisations around the world," the US telecom titan said.

"Many, troubled by the shadowy nature of its origins and proclivity to embarrass victims, found this trend more frightening than other threats."

About 98 per cent of computer network breaches at companies last year were the work of outsiders, with criminal groups out for profit were figured to be behind 83 per cent of those attacks.

However, it was self-described activist organisations such as Anonymous and Lulz Security who stole 58 per cent of the data while being involved in far fewer cyber attacks, according to Verizon.

"While good old-fashioned Ray ban sunglasses greed and avarice were still the prime movers, ideological dissent and schadenfreude took a more prominent role across the caseload," the report said.

The report cited data provided by the US Secret Service, the Dutch National High Tech Crime Unit, the Australian Federal Police, the Irish Reporting & Information Security Service and the Police Central e-Crime Unit of the London Metropolitan Police.

The Verizon findings were released on the same day that an IBM X-Force 2011 Trend and Risk report indicated that tightened security at companies is forcing cyber crooks to rethink tactics and shift to new fronts such as smartphones.

The X-Force report indicated hackers were increasingly resorting to automated password guessing programs, attacks on mobile gadgets, burberry watches for men outlet and "phishing" attacks that trick people into downloading viruses or revealing sensitive information.

"We've seen surprisingly good progress in the fight against computer crime through the IT industry's efforts to improve the quality of software," said X-Force threat intelligence and strategy manager Tom Cross.

"In response, criminals continue to evolve their techniques in an attempt to find new avenues into an organisation."

Attack techniques include injected malicious code into legitimate websites or ruses that involve impersonating popular social burberry shoes outlet networking services, X-Force warned.

In a bit of good news, the amount of spam email in 2011 was about half that in 2010, according to IBM.

It would be interesting to put all of these people

Could we have been more excited for Tuesday night's big New York screening of "The Hunger Games?" We don't think so. We burberry handbags caught on to Suzanne Collins's young adult novels pretty early, joined a young-adult book club because of them and sent Mockingjay pins to several of our equally "Hunger Games"-obsessed friends. OK, so we're not quite at super-fan level—like we wouldn't wait 24 hours outside Barnes & Noble to catch a glance of the chick who plays Prue—but there's an intensity there.

We spent last week reading the fanzines, the weekend watching "Game of Thrones" (because that seemed a good way to stave off "Hunger" pains) and Monday night researching movie merchandise we might want to buy. All we found was a Katniss Everdeen/Jennifer Lawrence pillowcase, but why would we want to go to sleep thinking about kids killing other kids with hunting knives? What? Lionsgate had a marketing problem with this movie?

The crowd at the screening on Tuesday at the School of Visual Arts—sponsored by Calvin Klein and the Cinema Society—could not have been more random. Sure, Gary Ross, the director, was there, along with Ms. Lawrence and her two burberry shirts for women cheap main co-stars: the pocket-sized Josh Hutcherson (who plays love interest No. 1: the baker, Peeta; in real life, Mr. Hutcherson told People magazine he likes to make cake pops) and Liam Hemsworth (who plays love interest No. 2: the hunter, Gale; in real life, Mr. Hemsworth dates Miley Cyrus). Apparently, Mr. Hemsworth also answers to "Handsome," because that's what the photographers called him outside the movie theater.

Apparently this movie has a varied, mass appeal, at least based on some of the other people we saw with reserved seats. They included Tony Danza, Gina Gershon, Rob and Marisol Thomas, the crooner Patti Smith, Mayor Cory Booker, the fashion designer Christian Siriano, Mélanie Laurent from "Beginners," the ice-hockey player Brad Richards, Carson Kressley, Fred Schneider of the B-52s and the former Real Housewife of New York Kelly Bensimon. It would be interesting to put all of these people in an "American Gladiator" like-arena and see who might be left standing. We'd bet on Mayor Booker and the guy from the B-52s.

We would not want to spoil the experience of seeing Mr. Ross's movie for you, but suffice it to say it adheres very closely to the book. Ray ban sunglasses, cheap gucci sunglasses, burberry sunglasses sale. We did leave wondering a) whether Ms. Collins meant to create not a parable about the effects of totalitarian government and violence in the media, but rather one about the pressures facing kids today and b) why this movie cost so much to make (a reported $80 million) if a large chunk of it was shot on handheld in a generic forest.

In any event, after a delayed start time and a two-and-a-half hour running time, the aforementioned guests met up at the Top of the Standard to participate in their own version of the Hunger Games, i.e. finding something to eat. (We knew they'd be skimpy on the hors d'oeuvres so we ate before. Think we'd do our district proud?)

"You're Clove, aren't you?" said Serena Miniter burberry ties (daughter of Gillian) as she approached the 15-year-old actress Isabelle Fuhrman who plays a "tribute" from District 2 who Katniss must murder to survive. (Each of the newcomers in the movie were heralded like the second coming on social media this last year; blink as you watch the film and you'll probably miss them.) Going up the elevator at the Standard, Ms. Fuhrman said that dying on screen "is kind of cool, but I wonder what my mother thinks. She must think it's boring. She's seen it three times." We were half-expecting, half-hoping that the scene at the after-party would be something out of the Capitol, the totalitarian government that oversees and produces the Hunger Games. As Mr. Ross has envisioned it, people wear tacky outfits, have fluorescent hair and wear lots of gold eyeshadow. It's like a PG-13 version of Leigh Bowery. But sadly there were no girls with dresses on-fire, no waitresses with Kabuki makeup, no men with the strange kind of facial hair Wes Bentley as Seneca, the game master, sports in the movie. It was just the Top of the Standard, like any other night.

There were, sadly, not cheap burberry shirts for women even cupcakes decorated with Mockingjays or any Eleni's cookies around. To celebrate "The Hunger Games," the cookie-maker designed an imaginatively themed cookie-box featuring 16 cookies in the likenesses of, among other things, Katniss and her "girl on fire" costume. Lionsgate, fiercely protective of its new movie as a totalitarian government like the Capitol might be, asked Eleni's to remove the cookies from its website. (They are still available via extra-special order.)

As the party devolved into, well, your everyday run-of-the-mill movie after-party, we thought back to what Patti Smith had remarked at the screening. "Of course I haven't read the books," she said. "But I'm one of America's youth. I have burberry sunglasses 2012 to see what everyone else is talking about. Plus, I'm a real sucker for a girl with a bow and arrow."

The Ryan plan contains another element popular

Safe-haven Treasuries gave up most initial gains, however, as Wall Street trimmed some of its losses in the afternoon. Meanwhile, burberry ties the dollar rose broadly as growth-related currencies were pressured by Chinese worries.

Concerns about the scale of China's economic slowdown resurfaced as BHP Billiton (BHP.AX), the world's largest miner, said it was seeing signs of "flattening" iron ore demand from the country.

U.S. stock indexes finished lower as investors took some profits after a rally on Monday drove the S&P 500 index to a level less than 10 percent shy of its 2007 record high.

"Do I think we are due for a pullback? Yes. Do I think this is the start of a pullback? No," said Mike Shea, managing partner and trader at Direct Access Partners in New York.

"The news out of China caused everyone to look up and take a breath, but the sentiment hasn't changed. It's still bullish."

The Dow Jones industrial average .DJI ended down 68.94 points, or 0.52 percent, at 13,170.19, while the Standard & Poor's 500 Index .SPX lost 4.23 points, or 0.30 percent, to 1,405.52. The Nasdaq Composite Index .IXIC fell 4.17 points, or 0.14 percent, to 3,074.15.

The S&P 500 has gained more than 11 percent so far this year as a steady flow of strong U.S. economic data encouraged stock investors. Tuesday's U.S. housing data was mixed, however, with housing starts falling in February while permits for future construction jumped to their highest since October 2008.

World stocks measured by the MSCI All-Country World Index .MIWD00000PUS dropped 0.7 percent, after closing on Monday near levels last seen in late July.

In Europe, the FTSEurofirst 300 index .FTEU3 closed down 1.1 percent as autos and miners were hit by worries of a Chinese slowdown.

"Stocks are being driven down burberry handbags outlet on reports of major discounts amongst the luxury good car brands in China and comments about weak iron ore demand," said Richard Batty, strategist at Standard Life Investments, with $248.37 billion of assets under management.

The dollar rose 0.2 percent against a basket of major trading-partner currencies, according to the U.S. Dollar Index .DXY. The euro weakened 0.14 percent against the greenback, to $1.3217.

"The dollar is gaining because of its safe-harbor appeal on worries about Chinese growth," said Joe Manimbo, senior market analyst at Travelex Global Business Payments in Washington.

U.S. crude oil prices dropped 2.48 percent to settle at $105.61 a barrel after Saudi Arabian Oil Minister Ali al-Naimi said the OPEC nation was pumping the highest level of oil in decades to supply every customer request, and was willing to immediately open the taps further if needed.

Benchmark 10-year Treasury notes erased most of their gains as Wall Street trimmed losses but were still trading 3/32 higher in price to yield 2.36 percent, down from 2.38 percent late Monday.

The plan, authored by congressman Paul Ryan, seeks to draw a sharp contrast between Republicans' vision of a smaller, less-intrusive federal government with that of President Barack Obama, who stresses the importance of social safety nets and emphasizes the positive role government plays in the economy.

The Ryan plan would shrink deficits to $3.13 trillion over 10 years - less than half the size of the deficit projected under Obama's own plan. It would dismantle Obama's 2010 healthcare reform law and make deep cuts to federal employee burberry sneakers women pensions and to social programs such as food stamps and the Medicaid health care program for the poor.

In offering a well-defined conservative alternative to the Democratic president's approach to solving the nation's long-term problems, Republicans are hoping to win over voters profoundly worried about huge deficits and Obama's stewardship of the economy.

"We are sharpening the contrast between the path we are proposing and the path of debt and decline that the president has placed us upon," Ryan said in a speech to the conservative American Enterprise Institute.

Where Obama and many Democrats want to raise taxes on the wealthy and boost near-term spending on infrastructure and education, Republicans want to cut taxes and spending, except for defense. They reckon that the Ryan budget will help portray them as better-equipped to govern responsibly and make tough fiscal choices.

The Ryan plan proposes to grind down public debt as a share of economic output to 63.5 percent by 2021, compared with 76.3 percent under Obama's plan. It was 67.7 percent at the end of 2011.

By contrast, the Republican presidential candidates' budget plans would do far worse on debt, according to the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget, citing plans for deep tax cuts.

The bipartisan group of former government budget bureaucrats estimates that Mitt Romney's plans would balloon federal debt to as much as 96 percent of gross domestic product by 2021, while Rick Santorum's would expand it to 104 percent and Newt Gingrich's would expand it to 114 percent.

The plan from Ryan, who is frequently mentioned as a Republican vice presidential candidate, has little chance of becoming law due to opposition in the Democratic-controlled Senate. But it could still have some real-world consequences.

The overhaul of the popular but increasingly expensive Medicare plan sets up Republicans for another round of damaging election-year attacks from Democrats, who have vowed to preserve the fee-for-service program.

The Republican budget also seeks to cap discretionary federal spending on education, transportation and other government programs at $1.029 trillion, roughly $18 billion less than Democrats want. That sets up a battle over spending that could potentially shut down the government just weeks before the November 6 election.

ALTERED MEDICARE REFORMS

After proposing last year to Ray ban sunglasses convert Medicare into a voucher-like program to allow seniors to purchase private health insurance, Ryan has modified his reforms in a bid to blunt criticism that it would shift too many costs onto the elderly.

The new plan offers so-called premium support to allow beneficiaries to purchase either traditional Medicare or competing plans through a government-run exchange.

But political strategists say the party will still struggle to sell it to older voters who worry about their benefits.

The plan also drew a quick rebuke from the Federation of American Hospitals, which said it would "make it difficult for hospitals to meet the healthcare needs of seniors and the most vulnerable in our communities."

A statement from House Democrats branded it a "vicious plot to destroy our nation's promise to our seniors" while the White House said it was harmful to the vast majority of Americans.

"What we see in this proposal is, again, much like its predecessor, essentially a shift of money from the middle class, seniors and lower-income Americans, disabled Americans, to the wealthiest Americans," said White House spokesman Jay Carney.

Democrats see the Medicare reform push as politically toxic for Republicans in congressional races and are targeting Medicare-focused Oakley sunglasses campaigns against some 41 House Republicans that they see as vulnerable in November.

THE MAN BEHIND THE PLAN

But the political risk on Medicare has not daunted Ryan, who at 42 has fashioned an image as a brash young reformer bent on shrinking government. The budget gives him a huge platform to influence his party's direction and the campaign debate.

Known for his slick YouTube videos showing dire forecasts of debt growth and for slipping in iPod earbuds sometimes when reporters are around, Ryan has kept the debt debate on the boil since Republicans took control of the House in 2010.

But some lawmakers say House passage of the Ryan plan is not assured and House Speaker John Boehner may need to twist arms within his unruly Republican caucus for support.

"There are a variety of worries from a lot of different people and different angles," said Congressman Mike Simpson, a Republican on the Budget and Appropriations committees. "Some people - Medicare is the worry. Some people - discretionary spending is the worry. Some people - defense is the worry."

On discretionary spending, the Ryan budget seeks to reduce fiscal 2013 spending caps agreed with Democrats last year by $18.4 billion. Democrats warn that the cut breaks last year's debt-limit agreement meant to keep fiscal peace and risks a government shutdown by causing conflict over spending bills.

Some Tea Party Republicans who wanted deeper cuts may balk at the plan, but it does offer them some comfort by shielding defense and security spending from automatic spending cuts that are scheduled to kick in next January.

"It's just not good enough," said Republican Tim Huelskamp, a Budget Committee freshman, telling Reuters that he would vote against burberry ties it because the cuts do not go far enough.

The Ryan plan contains another element popular with Republicans across the board: tax reform. It proposes to cut top rates for individuals, paring back the number of tax brackets to two - 25 percent and 10 percent - from six now.

Given the tenor of the condemnation

Mike Daisey, the performer forced burberry ties to admit that he made up parts of his one-man show that purported to expose horrific working conditions in Chinese factories where iPads and iPhones are assembled, isn't exactly slinking away.

"I want you all to know that I will not go silent," he writes in a new feisty blog posting Monday following a weekend in which he was exposed as mixing fiction and fact and then had to edit his monologue.

While acknowledging that parts of "The Agony and the Ecstasy of Steve Jobs" are made up, Daisey said he stands by his critique of the way Apple burberry handbags outlet products are manufactured in China. "If you think this story is bigger than that story, something is wrong with your priorities."

In an interview with "This American Life" host Ira Glass broadcast Friday, Daisey acknowledged that some of the claims in his show weren't true. The radio show retracted its Jan. 6 episode on Daisey because Glass said he couldn't vouch burberry sneakers women for the truth of its claims. Daisey then cut parts of his one-man show and added a prologue in which he addresses the questions raised by critics.

Before he scrubbed the monologue, Daisey described traveling to the Chinese industrial zone of Shenzhen and interviewing hundreds of workers from Foxconn Technology Group, the world's largest electronics contract manufacturer. Daisey said he stood outside the gate with a translator and met workers as young as 12 and some whose joints were damaged because they performed the same action thousands of times a shift.

Daisey has now admitted that he mixed fact and fiction — though he never warned his audiences or the journalists who talked with him. Some of the most damning assertions — that he met underage workers, people poisoned by Ray ban sunglasses industrial chemicals and workers crippled by repetitive strains — have fallen apart.

"If people want to use me as an excuse to return to denialism about the state of our manufacturing, about the shape of our world, they are doing that to themselves," he writes.

Daisey has been criticized for misleading thousands of people, putting a grand theatrical tradition into disrepute and even potentially harming the very workers he was apparently trying to help. But on his blog, he was hardly apologetic.

"Given the tenor of the condemnation, you would burberry socks for women think I had concocted an elaborate, fanciful universe filled with furnaces in which babies are burned to make iPhone components, or that I never went to China, never stood outside the gates of Foxconn, never pretended to be a businessman to get inside of factories, never spoke to any workers," he writes.

"Except that we all know that isn't true. There is nothing in this controversy that contests the facts in my work about the nature of Chinese manufacturing."

Daisey — a performer in the vein of Spalding Gray and John Leguizamo — has performed the monologue for more than 50,000 people burberry shoes outlet from Seattle to Washington, D.C. He was expected to take the show on tour after its latest run ended Sunday at The Public Theater.

Michigan State is more than legitimate and the Spartans

Veteran guard Derek Fisher, who recently was traded from the Lakers to the Houston Rockets, has reached a buyout agreement with burberry ties the Rockets and will become a free agent after he clears waivers, Yahoo! Sports reported Sunday.

After the Lakers obtained Ramon Sessions from Cleveland, the 37-year-old Fisher and a 2012 first-round draft choice were traded to Houston for forward Jordan Hill on Thursday.

Fisher, who had played in 537 consecutive games, did not join the Rockets as scheduled and had made no public comments regarding the trade.

Typically, a player would have 48 hours to report to his new team for a physical to complete the trade, but the Lakers and Rockets agreed to extend that deadline to 72 hours, ESPNLosAngeles.com reported.

Fisher could join a contender, but it won't be the Lakers, because a new rule in the collective bargaining agreement does not permit him to be bought out after a trade and re-sign with the Lakers this season.

Fisher had a $3.4 million player option on his 2012-13 contract. He averaged 5.9 points for the Lakers this season.

With Michigan State's season in peril, Draymond Green turned to teammate Keith Appling during a timeout and told him to be ready. His burberry handbags moment was near.

And when it arrived, Appling delivered.

His shot, the one Green urged him to take, helped save the Spartans.

Appling's critical 3-pointer with 1:34 left, a 20-foot jumper set up by Green's drive and marvelous pass, gave Michigan State a 65-61 win Sunday over Saint Louis and thrust the top-seeded Spartans into the round of 16 after they survived a 90-foot tug-of-war and wills with the scrappy Billikens.

Green scored 16 points with 13 rebounds, but it was his sixth assist, a two-handed, overhead pass across the floor to Appling that allowed the Spartans (29-7) to advance. They'll play No. 4 seed Louisville in the West Regional semifinals Thursday in Phoenix.

"I don't need to be a hero trying to make some scoop layup," Green said of his decision to pass up a shot. "If I see a guy open, I'm going to hit him. He was wide open in the corner, and I knew once he caught the ball, it was going in. I didn't try to get the rebound. I ran down the court. I already knew it was going in."

Sitting a few feet away on the podium, Tom Izzo gave his star an incredulous look.

"Why didn't you tell me?" Izzo said.

"Wasn't enough time," Green replied.

Appling added 19 points for the burberry belts Spartans, who had to scrap their way past the ninth-seeded Billikens. Executing coach Rick Majerus' game plan to perfection, Saint Louis controlled the tempo but never got a complete handle on Green, Michigan State's superb, do-everything senior, who even grabbed a mop and helped wipe up some sweat off the floor in the final minute.

Sweeping past the Billikens was much tougher.

Kwamain Mitchell scored 13 and Brian Conklin 11 for Saint Louis, making its first appearance in the tournament since 2000. The Billikens gave the more-talented, more-experienced Spartans all they could handle but were unable to knock off a balanced team that has a chance to win it all.

"We made them earn every shot that they took," said Conklin, who later broke down crying while talking about Majerus. "The game plan worked to perfection. The guy that we wanted to make shots, he hit a couple. And that's the difference in the game, four points, but that was the whole game plan.

"I said it was going to be a war — dirty basketball."

Izzo was worn out after dealing with the Billikens.

"That was one of the tougher games we've played in," said Izzo, taking his 10th team to a regional semifinal. "But you've got to burberry scarves give our guys credit, too. We didn't pretend to be God's gift to basketball. We know we're a working man's group. And we had to work today."

Majerus' strategy was to "muck up" the game and the Billikens were still within 55-51 when Green made the biggest play of the day.

After Izzo drew up an isolation play for him, Green drove the left side and as he neared the basket realized Appling had found some open space on the other side of the floor. Green fired his pass to Appling in front of Michigan State's bench. The Spartans guard took aim, fired and had his 3-pointer drop, but only after it hit both sides of the rim and backboard before falling.

"All night they pretty much had me begging to shoot the ball," Appling said. "We got in the huddle in one of our timeouts and Draymond told me I was a 41 percent 3-point shooter last year, so shoot the ball. We drew up a play for him, and the defense collapsed and I was wide open, he hit me with a pass that was burberry kids skirts cheap perfect, right in my shooter's pocket, and I was able to knock it down.

"As soon as it came off of my hands, it felt good. And once I seen it go through the hoop, I was all smiles."

Cody Ellis and Mike McCall Jr. made 3-pointers in the final 30 seconds for Saint Louis, and Michigan State's victory wasn't assured until Mitchell's 3 with 3 seconds left was short.

As the horn sounded, Green, who had a triple-double Friday night in a win over LIU Brooklyn, raised his arms and hugged teammate Brandon Wood tightly before lining up with his teammate to shake hands with St. Louis' players.

There was no excessive celebrating for the Spartans. They didn't jump around, dance, pose for pictures or cut down the nets. Michigan State won't climb any ladders until they reach higher goals.

"It's about surviving and advancing," Green said. "That's what we did."

Majerus was proud of how his team battled.

"We fought our guts out," the coach said. "They're a terrific team. I don't know that we could have played better. Michigan State's a great team. They should win the national championship. They're extraordinarily well-coached. They have great kids. They compete. They do it the right way."

After the Spartans lost their first two games this season to North Carolina and Duke, there were some who wondered if this Michigan State squad would recover and live up to the school's high standards, the ones set burberry bags outlet by players such as Magic Johnson, Steve Smith, Scott Skiles and Mateen Cleaves.

There's no debate anymore. Michigan State is more than legitimate and the Spartans can win with any style. Make them run and they'll run. Slow them down and they'll crawl. Start a fight and they'll finish it.

Those qualities serve to bring an unexpected introspection

The only thing "21 Jump Street"takes even remotely seriously is high school. Everything else is punch line material — including the burberry ties Johnny Depp TV series that was its inspiration and the two undercover police rookies now at its center, played with a great goofball gusto by Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum.

As Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum), this odd couple is inept from the beginning and ideal for the slap-happy sensibility of co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The college filmmaking buddies have turned their off-center humor into a full-time job more innocently with 2009's animated adaptation of kids' book "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs," more provocatively with the mind-melding irreverence of the MTV animated series "Clone High." Miller and Lord clearly understand the push-and-pull and hyper-competitiveness that make guy friendships both complex and stupid. That it comes to life so fully in "21 Jump Street" is what gives the film an endearing, punch-you-in-the-arm-because-I-like-you-man charm.

In a slow wind-up burberry handbags outlet that fortunately doesn't last too long, we get a glimpse of the guys in their own high school daze. Schmidt the nerd with bleached hair and braces, Jenko the cool jock with failing grades. A few disappointments later they reconnect during their cop training days, this time joining forces so Schmidt can pass the physical stuff and Jenko the written exams.

Once the background business is finally over — including their inglorious bike patrol assignment and a botched arrest — the now best buddies get assigned to 21 Jump Street, an undercover operation housed in the sanctuary of a condemned church with its Korean Jesus above the altar keeping an eye on things and a trash-talking Ice Cube as the captain running the show. For those who don't know the basics of the legendary series that launched Depp, the boys are sent back to high school disguised as students to catch bad guys trying to corrupt kids.

Depp's "Street" was more crime-and-punishment drama, burberry beige handbag though his brow was slightly arched even then. The reimagined "21" is total comic farce, with Schmidt and Jenko assigned to ferret out the supplier of a new designer drug that is incredibly potent — its crazed effect chronicled by one student YouTube style. Written by the very busy Michael Bacall, the quirky mind who had a hand in the current"Project X" nerd party and co-wrote the inventive"Scott Pilgrim vs. the World," "Jump Street" features his peppery sarcasm and his trademark burberry scarves fourth-wall breaking antics with pop-art splashes dropped in as commentary/context for fun.

As fate and the filmmakers would have it, Jenko and Schmidt are assigned to the very high school they graduated from, which means a second chance to do things differently. Always the jokester, Jenko switches their identities during their meet-and-greet with the principal, with Jenko playing the science nerd and Schmidt the track star and drama club king. Oh, and they're supposed to be brothers, which means they move back in with Schmidt's mom and dad.

Tatum and Hill turn out to be even better partners than Jenko and Schmidt. Though Tatum is rock hard and Hill is squishy soft, both bring a kind of vulnerability to their characters that makes whatever mayhem they are up to OK. Hill, in particular, knows how to swing between pretension and panic with the greatest of ease.

Those qualities serve to bring an unexpected introspection as the guys rewind and replay their high school experience with all the ego and angst of the first time, and theoretically the wisdom of age. Just about everything on the burberry kids skirts cheap teen issue checklist turns up at some point — the out-of-control party, the cute girl (Brie Larson) whom Schmidt wants to take to the prom, the cool dude (Dave Franco) who deals on the side, and all the big, bad bruisers the boys are supposed to take down.

That the school play that Schmidt tries out for is"Peter Pan"is not a random choice. Indeed there are sly, knowing references scattered throughout the film that reward you for paying attention even as lunacy and total anarchy unfold. Which brings us to the freewheeling action excesses that director of photography Barry Peterson ("Starsky & Hutch") captures with such comic verve.

As Jenko and Schmidt struggle with their shifting emotions and the pressures that the high school role-playing burberry bags outlet puts on their relationship, the conflicts nearly always trigger some kind of major action episode with wild car chases, shootouts and a lot of wrestling of the exceedingly awkward sort that boys do. But then things never quite turn out as planned for this bumbling pair, which is actually just fine.

The Metro browser is already plugin-free

Angry rants about the demise of corporate culture aren't reserved only for ex-Goldman Sachs employees. Microsoft-turned-Google burberry ties engineer James Whittaker -- now once again a Microsoft employee -- fired off a scathing blast Tuesday on a Microsoft blog about why he left Google.

"My last three months working for Google was a whirlwind of desperation," wrote Whittaker, who headed the engineering team for social network Google+. "The Google I was passionate about was a technology company that empowered its employees to innovate. The Google I left was an advertising company with a single corporate-mandated focus."

Whittaker, who joined Google in 2009 and left last month, described a corporate culture clearly divided into two eras: "Before Google+," and "After."

"After" is pretty terrible, in his view.

Google once gave its engineers the time and resources to be creative. That experimental approach yielded several home-run hits like Chrome and Gmail. But Google fell behind in one key area: competing with Facebook.

That turned into corporate priority No. 1 when Larry Page took over as the company's CEO. "Social" became Google's battle cry, and anything that didn't support Google+ was viewed as a distraction.

"Suddenly, 20% meant half-assed," burberry handbags outlet wrote Whittaker, referring to Google's famous policy of letting employees spend a fifth of their time on projects other than their core job. "The trappings of entrepreneurship were dismantled."

Whittaker is not the first ex-Googler to express that line of criticism. Several high-level employees have left after complaining that the "start-up spirit" of Google has been replaced by a more mature but staid culture focused on the bottom line.

The interesting thing about Whittaker's take is that it was posted not on his personal blog, but on an official blog of Microsoft, Google's arch nemesis.

Spokesmen from Microsoft and Google declined to comment.

The battle between Microsoft and Google has heated up recently, as the Federal Trade Commission and the European Commission begin to investigate Google for potential antitrust violations .Microsoft, with its Bing search engine, has doubled its share of the search market since its June 2010 founding, but has been unsuccessful at taking market share away from Google.

Microsoft is increasingly willing to call out Google for what it sees as illicit behavior. A year ago, the software company released a long list of gripes about Google's monopolistic actions, and last month it said Google was violating Internet Explorer users' privacy.

Despite his misgivings about what Google burberry beige handbag cast aside to make Google+ a reality, Whittaker thinks that the social network was worth a shot. If it had worked -- if Google had dramatically changed the social Web for the better -- it would have been a heroic gamble.

But it didn't. It's too early to write Google+ off, but the site is developing a reputation as a ghost town. Google says 90 million people have signed up, but analysts and anecdotal evidence show that fairly few have turned into heavy users.

"Google was the rich kid who, after having discovered he wasn't invited to the party, built his own party in retaliation," Whittaker wrote. "The fact that no one came to Google's party became the elephant in the room."

Microsoft is continuing to show off new features coming in its Internet Explorer 10 Web browser, with a couple of posts describing its touch-friendly Metro interface and its enhanced security.

The current trend in browser design, led by Google Chrome, is to scale back the browser's interface so that it takes less and less of the screen, devoting more room to the Web content itself. Windows 8's Metro design similarly removes window chrome to put the focus on content.

Metro Internet Explorer 10 is the logical conclusion of this trend: most of the time it has no visible interface at all, burberry scarves leaving only the Web page visible. Its app bar, displayed by swiping from the top or bottom of the screen or right clicking the mouse, contains tabs, the address bar, and so on.

The Metro version of Internet Explorer feels slick and comfortable using both touch and mouse and keyboard interaction. Particular highlights are the tile-based favorites view and the tab thumbnails, both shown to good effect in Microsoft's post.

Internet Explorer 9 introduced some particularly taskbar-oriented features: support for pinning sites to the taskbar, and the ability for those pinned sites to create custom options in the Jump list. In Windows 8, sites can be pinned to the Start screen to make them instantly accessible. Sites pinned this way can even update their tile to show status notifications—much in the way that "real" apps can do. However, the Jump lists are tucked away, only available from within Internet Explorer.

One concern that this chromeless look raises is that of differentiaton; Metro-style versions of both Chrome and Firefox are being developed, burberry kids skirts cheap and it's hard to see how they might look any different.

Security-wise, Internet Explorer 10 will include a new Enhanced Protected Mode. Protected Mode is the name Microsoft gives to its sandboxing technique. The current version, introduced in Internet Explorer 7 on Windows Vista, creates a separate, low-privilege process for running JavaScript and rendering HTML. This low-privilege process has no write access to most of the file system. This means that even if there is a security flaw in the browser, the attacker cannot write malware to the hard disk.

Sandbox protection of this kind isn't perfect—there are various techniques for escaping from the sandbox and increasing privileges—but it serves as another measure attackers have to defeat if they want to exploit users.

Enhanced Protected Mode further reduces the rights that each low-privilege process has: not only do they not have write permission to the file system, they also lose read permission. This makes the sandbox even harder to escape, but it comes at a cost: it breaks virtually all current plugins.

The new iPad goes on sale this Friday

Apple had originally set the ship date for burberry ties March 16. The new iPad goes on sale in stores on a first-come, first-served basis on Friday.

Still the folks behind the $5 billion plus business of games and apps that sell in Apple's App Store are working overtime to either overhaul their apps or create ones that take advantage of the new iPad's improved graphics and performance.

Nicholas Callaway of Callaway Digital Arts, which makes animated and interactive books, considers the higher-definition screen of the new iPad as the "IMAX of mobile."

"Our designers and animators are working day and night to optimize our apps," says Callaway.

He has redesigned two of his most popular apps, featuring Martha Stewart and Sesame Street characters, burberry handbags outlet to take advantage of the new iPad's sharper display. The lower-resolution photos and graphics in the apps need to be adjusted, photo by photo, artwork by artwork, he adds. "We've made this our highest priority."

The new iPad starts at $499 and includes crisper Retina display graphics, a faster processing chip, improved HD video camera, and access to faster wireless 4G networks.

Ge Wang, the co-founder of Smule, which makes burberry beige handbag music apps for the iPad and iPhone, says that "for the first time a mobile device will have higher resolution than any computer. That's crazy."

His apps have featured real-time music collaboration among players around the world, but only with audio. Now Wang envisions video jams as well.

"You'll be able to see people, instead of just listening, and that's far more powerful."

Epic Games is hard at work upping the resolution of images from its best-selling game Infinity Blade II ($6.99). It won't make it in time for the Friday launch but hopes to get the revised game out very soon.

Epic Games President Mike Capps says the new iPad display is comparable to high-end gaming consoles such as the Microsoft XBox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3. "We can achieve a level of realism and detail that has never been seen on a mobile device, or honestly, on any widely available television."

Since the App Store burberry scarves launched in 2008, some 25 billion apps have been downloaded. The App Store skews toward the iPhone, with 585,000 total apps; 200,000 were created just for the iPad.

Apple has paid developers more than $4 billion in royalties since the store launched. Developers get to keep 70% of revenue.

Apple's new iPad doesn't hit stores until Friday, but that hasn't kept it from ending up out in the wild first.

Vietnamese site Tinhte.vn today posted photos and a video of the new iPad for the first time outside of Apple's unveiling event last week, and ahead of reviews from CNET and other news outlets.

While there aren't any surprises to be found in the packaging or packing materials, the site did run the device through its paces in the popular Geekbench software by Primate Labs where it scored a 756. As MacRumors notes, that's very close to what the iPad 2 pulls in (751), however the test is not set up to evaluate graphical performance, which is where the new model surpasses the old one.

Also noteworthy: The test confirmed the new burberry kids skirts cheap iPad has 1GB of RAM, up from 512 in the iPad 2. A report from The Verge following the new device's introduction last week claimed as much, however that's not a spec Apple lists.

This is the latest in a series of early Apple product grabs for Tinhte. It's the same outlet that got a hold of the iPhone 4 ahead of its official announcement, as well as a 64GB iPhone 4 model last April ahead of such a model arriving with the iPhone 4S.

The new iPad goes on sale this Friday at Apple's store as well as a handful of retail partners, including RadioShack and U.S. carriers burberry bags outlet AT&T and Verizon. Apple has already shipped out units to many who preordered the device last week, however those packages are being held until release day.

Nearly two decades after former Lotus Development

He may not always have had the burberry handbags outlet greatest jokes to work with, but Jack Benny always had great timing. Scott Thompson, all of two months on the job, is giving notice that he, too, knows how to maximize the hand that he's been dealt as Yahoo's (relatively new) CEO.

In its everything-but-the-kitchen-sink lawsuit against Facebook, Yahoo claimed patent infringement on a range of technologies that it says were used without permission by the world's largest social network. In each of the 10 counts alleging wrong done by Facebook, Yahoo said it "will continue to suffer irreparable harm-for which there is no adequate remedy at law-from such unlawful infringing activities unless this court enjoins Facebook from further infringing activities."

The cynics--of which burberry beige handbag there is no shortage-will seize upon the lawsuit as Exhibit A to present this as a textbook case of a stumbling business entering its final throes having more interest in patent trolling than innovation. But for Thompson, who pledged in his first conference call as CEO that Yahoo would "be back to innovation" and "disruptive concepts," opportunity is knocking. And he's taking advantage of the moment.

Nearly two decades after former Lotus Development CEO Jim Manzi popularized the term during a famous software copyright brawl with against Borland International, it's time to dust off the term cashectomy. What the lawsuit did not mention was that burberry ties sometime very soon, Facebook will hold one of the biggest initial public offerings in memory. Facebook seeks to raise about $5 billion, give or take a few shekels, swelling the corporate bank account to the point where there's going to be enough in the till to buy pizzas for the staff well into the next millennium and beyond.

So what's a few hundred million---even a billion-dollars--to get Yahoo to drop its lawsuit?

"Facebook probably will have a pretty good chunk of cash [following the IPO]," said Clark S. Stone, a patent expert with the law firm of Haynes and Boone. "You've got to assume that unless it's some kind of grudge match with bad blood running, then there typically is some sort of business strategy behind this."

At this point, burberry scarves however, Facebook is not talking truce. Just the opposite, in fact. In a statement responding to the lawsuit, the social networking giant said that it would fight Yahoo's "puzzling actions." But patent attorneys will tell you that litigation often gets used as a business tool. For any mature company such as Yahoo, a company's patent portfolio is going to have enormous value--even more so when the company mentioned in the complaint actually is guilty of infringement. Not that the claims against Facebook have merit, but it's not uncommon for companies to split the difference and get on burberry kids skirts cheap with more important things.

As noted earlier, this isn't the first time that Yahoo has mounted a legal attack against a hot, soon-to-be-public Internet company. In August 2004, Yahoo settled a patent dispute with Google over pay-per-click and bidding systems that give sites higher placement in Web results. The settlement came less than two weeks before Google went public. In that settlement, Google agreed to give Yahoo 2.7 million shares of its stock in a deal valued at the time as high as $290 million. Google also agreed to license several Yahoo patents.

Back to Facebook, burberry bags outlet Mark Zuckerberg may not want to settle. But with a huge payday ahead, he could always hold his nose and sign on the line which is dotted. In the end, a negotiated settlement won't make a whit of difference to Facebook's future. The irony is that it probably won't decide much about Yahoo's still-cloudy future either.

Those most critical of Hatch are taking aim at some past votes

Instagram is prepping an Android version burberry handbags outlet of its photo app, the company's CEO said during a Sunday panel at SXSW.

Instagram for Android is coming soon and "in some ways, it's better than our iOS app. It's crazy," Kevin Systrom told TechCrunch editor Alexia Tsotsis, who interviewed him for today's panel.

Systrom also revealed that Instagram has surpassed 27 million users; last May, it was at 4.5 million.

He didn't give a timetable for the release of the Android app. Today's SXSW appearance also did not include a demo of the app since it's apparently not quite ready for primetime, TechCrunch said. The delay, meanwhile, was simply due to the fact that the company was focusing much of its attention on iOS.
SXSW 2012 Bug

That focus likely helped it become Apple's iPhone app of the year for 2011.

Instagram for iPhone debuted in October 2010, and lets users add different custom filters to photos in order to change the colors, mood, border, and tonality of their snapshots. It hit 1 million users after just three months.

Last month, Instagram released an update that, among other things, simplified the interface and added the "Lux" photo-editing feature. In an effort to avoid the privacy snafu faced by Path, meanwhile, Instagram burberry beige handbag also recently updated its iOS app to require users to give the app permission to upload their contact lists.

Hatch has been waiting for them.

Each May, Hatch speaks to a group of University of Utah students visiting the nation's capital. In 2009, he candidly and fortuitously suggested that Bennett would be vulnerable to defeat at the next state convention. A year later, after Bennett lost, Hatch met with a new group of students. He told them he had been working fervently to ensure he wouldn't meet a similar fate.

"They said they had started the previous December a very active grassroots effort to contact every delegate, every past delegate, every sitting delegate, every potential delegate and put forth a persuasive argument why Sen. Hatch should be elected to another unprecedented term," said Tim Chambless, a political science professor at the University of Utah who was escorting the students. "He said he was not going to have the same experience as Sen. Bennett."

When the three-term Bennett lost in 2010, it sent shockwaves through the Republican Party and heralded a revolt that saw tea-party-backed candidates such as Christine O'Donnell, Sharron Angle and Marco Rubio topple more established, mainstream Republicans.

On Thursday Utah's GOP voters once again will give political parties and their candidates an early glimpse into the mindset of conservative Republicans regarding congressional races.

The gatherings represent the first step in Utah's unique system of nominating political candidates. Those attending the neighborhood caucuses will elect 4,000 delegates to next month's GOP convention. The convention delegates will narrow the field. If a candidate wins at least 60 percent of the vote, they become the party's burberry ties nominee. Otherwise, the top two vote-getters move on to a primary.

Hatch and dozens of supporters are recruiting delegates who will support his nomination at the convention. The tea party affiliate, FreedomWorks, is leading the charge for anyone but Hatch and has spent more than $475,000 so far this year in that effort. The organization's super PAC has mailed a 44-page brochure critical of Hatch to some 37,000 potential caucus participants.

Meanwhile, challengers such as former state Sen. Dan Liljenquist, 37, and state Rep. Chris Herrod, 46, are also pleading their cases to potential delegates.

Liljenquist said Utah's nominating system has greatly increased the prospects for an upset because the delegates are more immune to political ads. Hatch is the only candidate with the resources to run television ads, and they are a regular presence in prime time.

"We have the best system in the world for negating the influence of outside money on races because you have to look 4,000 people in the eye and say, 'Here's why you should send me to Washington'," Liljenquist said. "It's this same system that produced Orrin Hatch in 1976, out of the blue, with no name recognition."

Hatch has rarely been tested since.

"There's nothing easy about that process, but we're going to do fine," said Hatch, who turns 78 later this month. "We've done everything that you really need to do."

Most of those watching delegate recruiting agree that Hatch is in better shape than Bennett. Hatch has reached out to the state's conservatives and recently received a 99 percent grade for his 2011 voting record from the Club burberry scarves for Growth against a lifetime rating of 78 percent. He is a serial critic of the Obama administration.

Joni Crane, GOP chairwoman for Uintah County in eastern Utah, opposed Bennett in 2010. She describes herself as a tea party supporter motivated by political commentator Glenn Beck to get off the couch and shake things up. She supported the eventual winner in 2010, Sen. Mike Lee. While she said she is still undecided this time, she agrees with Hatch's argument that his seniority would help the state.

"The people who are embracing the uberconservative right are miscalculating," Crane said. "People are not equating Hatch with Bennett ... and we don't have a good pool of people to replace Hatch."

Those most critical of Hatch are taking aim at some past votes that had bipartisan support in Congress, such as backing government funding for financial firms in danger of collapse during the last recession. Hatch is also one of the original architects of the State Children's Health Insurance Program, which provides health coverage to low- and moderate-income children not eligible for Medicaid.

Boyd Pugmire, a potential delegate from Cache County, is chafing at FreedomWorks' efforts to oust Hatch.

"I don't believe people want to let some organization out of Washington, D.C., tell them who their congressman should be," Pugmire said. "That's for Utahans to decide."

But FreedomWorks is not the only outside group trying to influence the election. Nearly 40 percent of the $4.9 million Hatch's campaign raised burberry kids skirts cheap last year came from political action committees representing insurers, technology giants, banks and the myriad other corporations and trade groups influenced by the legislation that moves through the Senate Finance Committee, where he's the ranking member.

"I wouldn't be running again if it wasn't for being the Republican leader of the Finance Committee. Everyone knows that's the most important committee in the Senate, if not the most important committee in Congress," Hatch said. "It's been 80 years since a Utahan has chaired that committee. I think I'll have the opportunity to do that."

Meanwhile, his opponents are hoping that Utah Republicans will once again make a statement to the rest of the nation about burberry bags outlet frustration with Congress.

"The anger has died down some but the fatigue has grown," Liljenquist said. "Congress's approval ratings are at an all-time low and people in this state are looking for new leaders to change this up."
